The Armed Forces’ Human Resources PDFPrint
The quality of Military and Civil Personnel constitutes a main factor to the quality of the Armed Forces.

The military personnel consists of professionals and draftees, in a quota that shall be shaped to reach 60 and 40 per cent respectively. The category of professionals includes officers, warrant officers, noncommissioned officers, Volunteers of Permanent Military Service and Volunteers of 5-year Military Service of the three branches of the Armed Forces. In addition, draftees are hired under conventions in order to staff the modern weapon systems, with which the three branches have been supplied during the last years.

Soldiers serve at the three branches, in posts for which they have been well trained. After the end of their service they become reservists and due to the operational planning, they can be used at wartime or crises management situations.

The civil personnel is incorporated into the Armed Forces and mainly offers its services to administrative, financial and training issues, as well as at issues concerning the supplies and materiel maintenance. It represents approximately the 27% of the personnel's total. The Ministry of National Defence cares for the civil personnel by creating institutions that develop the employees' knowledge and personality as well. In this line, several regulations have been promoted, which contribute to the modernization of the administrative sector and create the conditions for the general progress of the civil personnel.

Men and women of the Armed Forces constitute manpower of high quality and the MOD, through its factors, is intensively activated in order to keep it on a high level.

The continuous education and training of the officers in order to create leaders, is considered to be the cornerstone for the enhancement of the fighting power of the units.

We maintain at a high level the institutional framework the officers' enlistment, training and development, so that the best of the young Greek men and women shall be interested to join the Armed Forces having ambitions and dreams to offer to the country, as well as to succeed a very good professional career.

At the same time, the MOD is constantly taking measures for the improvement of the living standards of the Draftees, the Military and Civil Personnel of the Armed Forces and their families as well.
