Lieutenant General (rtd) Theodoros LAGIOS HAF

General Director of GDDIA (Since November 2019)


He was born in Komotini, a city located at the North – Eastern Greece, on 26/12/1963.


He joined the Hellenic Air Force Academy (HAFA) in 1981 and he has graduated in 1985, as a 2nd Lieutenant.

He graduated from:

  • Flight Safety School

  • Ground and Academics Instructor School

  • Senior Officers School (SOS)

  • Water Survival School (WSS)

  • Survival Evasion Resistance and Escape School (SERE)

  • Air War College

He was the first HAF officer who attended the Flight Safety School of the Spanish Air Force in Madrid, establishing the bilateral Hellenic – Spanish Armed Forces cooperation.

He is fluent in English and Spanish.

Lieutenant General (P) Theodoros Lagios is accredited as a Mission Commander, a Fighter Weapon School Instructor and is an experienced Flight Instructor (Cat. A Certification).
