Born on 28/06/1948 and his origins are in Mani.

  • FAMILY

Married to Maria – Despina Zoumbouli. The couple has one son.

  • CAREER HISTORY

Graduated from the Hellenic Military Academy (Evelpidon) on 1971 and was commissioned as Artillery 2nd Lieutenant.

Promoted to Lieutenant General in 2003.

He has successfully attended all Hellenic Army Artillery School courses, as well as the US Army Field Artillery School and the Psychological Operations School. Graduate of the Army War College and the National Defence College.Assignments:

In many Artillery Units (Macedonia, Evros, Aegean Sea Islands), assuming all levels of command. Served in Cyprus between 1975 – 1977.

In many high ranking staff positions in formations and the Hellenic Army General Staff, while he has also served as Director/G4 and  Branch Director (Training, Doctrine, Defence Planning and Organisation) of the Hellenic Army General Staff.

As a General Officer, he has served as Commanding General of 98 Higher National Guard Battalions Command (Mytilini), the Athens Military Command and the Higher Military Command of Interior and Islands.

In 2005, he was assigned as Army Inspector General, while on 2 Dec 2005 he also assumed the duties of Commanding General of the Hellenic 1st Army.

  • INTERNATIONAL ASSIGNMENTS

Within the framework of NATO, he served as Staff Officer, Armaments – Doctrine in SHAPE, as well as Chairman of the Long-term Land Forces Planning Committee of the Western European Union.

Between July 2006 – September 2008 he served as Deputy Commander of the Component Command Land Madrid (CC-LAND MADRID), until his retirement as honorary Hellenic 1st Army Commander.

  • DECORATIONS – AWARDS

He has been awarded:

The Golden Cross of the Order of Phoenix, the Golden Cross of the Order of Merit, the Knight Commanders Cross of the Order of Phoenix and the Knight Commanders Cross of the Order of Merit.

Medal for Military Valour, A Class.

Knight Commanders High Cross of the Order of Merit.

Knight Commanders High Cross of the Order of Phoenix.

Meritorious Command Medal, A Class, Staff Officer Service Commendation Medal, A Class, Formation Command Medal.
