A meeting between the Minister of National Defence Mr. Dimitris Avramopoulos and the Chairman of PrinInvest Group Mr. Iskandar Safa, following the latter’s demand, took place today, at noon.

The Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff Admiral Kosmas Christidis and the Director General of the General Directorate of Defence Investments & Armaments Mr. Dimitris Georgiopoulos also attended the meeting.

During this meeting, Mr. Avramopoulos presented the Ministry’s of National Defence stands and directions, as they were introduced and decided by the Hellenic Parliament’s Standing Committee on Armament Programmes, concerning the issue of construction and delivery of 4 Submarines, which currently lie at the Skaramanga Shipyards, as well as of 2 Submarines, the construction of which has not started yet.

Mr. Safa presented the current situation at the Skaramanga Shipyards and his positions as far as the existing contracts on the Submarines are concerned.

A decision was made to assign to both parties’ Experts Committees the processing of issues that have emerged in the course of finding a solution which will ensure the immediate delivery of submarines to the Hellenic Navy and consolidate the perspective and viability of the Shipyards, for the benefit of national interests.
