The Minister of National Defence was briefed on the Formation’s current operational and educational activities, and discussed with the personnel.
During his visit at the Hellenic First Army HQ, the Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos made the following statement:
“We came this morning, the political and military leadership of the Ministry of National Defence, at the Hellenic First Army HQ, where we conclude the first, basic cycle of briefings on the situation, planning and perspectives of the Armed Forces, a month after we assumed our duties at the Ministry of National Defence.
I would like to thank the Commanding General of the Hellenic First Army for his superb hospitality, as well as for his briefing on the nature, operation and capabilities of this key Formation, which is the backbone of Greece’s mainland defence and deterrence capability.
Afterwards, I shall visit the Hellenic Tactical Air Force HQ, so as to be briefed on matters of the Hellenic Air Force, which will help us comprehend and plan on where we should go, as regards the next day of the Hellenic Armed Forces. We should realize, in full awareness, exactly where we stand. This is the reason why this cycle of briefings, which is considered very intensive and constructive, begun.
I would like to thank everyone for their eagerness to communicate to us the depiction of the current situation. So that the Political and Military Leadership of the Ministry of National Defence can design together our path towards powerful Armed Forces, which shall offer a complete, powerful, even terrific for anyone who might have designs against our country, “security umbrella” throughout Greece, from the northernmost to the southernmost and from the westernmost to the easternmost end”.
The Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos shall also visit the National Air Ops Centre and the Hellenic Tactical Air Force HQ.
