The Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos, accompanied by Chief/HNDGS General Konstantinos Floros, visited the outposts of Oinousses, Panagia, Agathonissi and Farmakonissi.
The Minister had the opportunity to inspect the guards, to verify the compliance with the protective measures against “Covid-19” and to ascertain the high morale of Officers, NCOs and Soldiers serving in the outposts.
After the visit was completed, Mr. Panagiotopoulos, while in Farmakonissi, made the following statement:
“Today, I am here with Chief/HNDGS, at the Surveillance Outpost of Farmakonissi, in the framework of a rapid Sunday tour which brought us this morning at Oinousses, Panagia, Agathonissi and Farmakonissi.
A moment ago, the helicopter that brought us here was harassed by Turkish aircraft. I have to admit that we did not feel this harassment. On the contrary, when we lifted our eyes in the sky, we saw the Greek aircraft which had already driven away the Turkish aircraft, here in Farmakonissi.
However, what I would like to say is that such behavior from Turkey does not help to ease tension, which should be what both sides should seek at this time.
Nonetheless, we are not daunted at all.
I would like to congratulate the Armed Forces personnel who, alongside our country’s land and sea borders, guard them relentlessly, as always”.
