The Deputy Minister of National Defence Alkiviadis Stefanis visited the city of Kastoria, on Thursday 06 August 2019.
The Deputy Minister of National Defence, accompanied by the Commanding General of the Hellenic First Army, Lieutenant General Konstantinos Floros, and the Commanding General of the C Army Corps, Lieutenant General Konstantinos Koutras, first visited the 15th Infantry Regiment. The Deputy Minister, after being briefed, addressed the personnel of the Regiment’s Staff. He congratulated and thanked the Command, the Staff and the Armed Forces’ personnel serving at the Garrison, on their excellent work at this unique, particular and rich in history borderline area of our country, as well as on their contribution to the local works of public benefit, which have relieved the inhabitants’ life.
Afterwards, the Deputy Minister of National Defence went to the Surveillance Outpost “GRAMMOS” at the Greek-Albanian border, where he talked with its personnel, as well as with locals. Moreover, he visited and venerated the Holy Church of Virgin Mary, which lies close to the said outpost. The church was reconstructed and it first celebrated Mass after many years, by care of the Municipality of Nestorio, the local Community of Grammoustianoi and the contribution of the Ministry of National Defence. The political leadership of the Ministry of National Defence is proud of the Armed Forces’ presence at this borderline region.
Afterwards, the Deputy Minister of National Defence went to the Town Hall where, in the context of his visit, he met with the Mayor of Kastoria, Mr. Anestis Aggelis.
The Deputy Minister of National Defence’s last stop was the Holy Church of St Nikanor, where he attended the religious celebrations for St. Nikanor Day, the co-Patron Saint of the city of Kastoria.
