On Tuesday, 18 December 2018, the Deputy Minister of National Defence Maria Kollia-Tsaroucha, accompanied by the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff Lieutenant General Alkiviadis Stefanis, visited the Higher Military Command of Interior and Islands.
In the context of her visit, the Deputy Minister of National Defence was informed on the extremely important contribution of the Higher Military Command of Interior and Islands, whose Area of Responsibility is the Aegean and its islands and at the same time, it constitutes the bridge between Cyprus and Hellenism.
The Deputy Minister of National Defence expressed her satisfaction regarding the work of the Higher Military Command of Interior and Islands and pointed out the importance of this specific Formation as a deterrent Force, in the wider area of the South-Eastern Mediterranean.
Mrs. Maria Kollia-Tsaroucha also thanked the Higher Military Command of Interior and Islands for its very important contribution, with regard to the migrant crisis, "presenting to the world", as she stated, "the social face of the Hellenic Armed Forces".
The Deputy Minister of National Defence wished the personnel happy holidays and pointed out the following:

Keep up-with the same zeal-the professional progress and your contribution to the Armed Forces, so that we look on Greece's future with safety and optimism. Your national contribution is significant and we are proud of you. On our behalf, as political leadership of the Armed Forces, we ought to support you and we do, both with regard to the better execution of your obligations and missions and to the improvement of your living conditions."
