The Deputy Minister of National Defence ALKIVIADIS STEFANIS, representing the President of the Hellenic Republic, attended on Monday 2 December 2019 a Symposium on "Geopolitical Developments in the East Mediterranean and Israel-Greece's Relations", which was organised by the National Defence Staff Officers' Association at the Hellenic Armed Forces Officers Club.

Keynote speaker to the Symposium was the Ambassador of Israel to Greece, Mr. YOSSI AMRANI.

In his address, the Deputy Minister referred to the geopolitical developments which have shaped a critical and unstable political environment, thus threatening on one hand a large part of the Middle East with disarray and collapse, and compromising, on the other hand, the international community's security. He underlined that our country's duty is to revise the policies necessary to contribute to the broader region's security. He also highlighted the fact that Greece and Israel are at a period of fruitful political cooperation and excellent bilateral relations which, founded on respect for International Law, promote peaceful coexistence and prosperity for all countries in the broader region.
