On Sunday, 6 October 2019, the Deputy Minister of National Defence Alkiviadis Stefanis represented the Prime Minister at the celebrations for the 107th anniversary of the liberation of the city and province of Elassona from Turkish rule.

The Deputy Minister of National Defence attended the doxology at the Metropolitan Church of Aghios Dimitrios, the memorial service for the fallen, laid a wreath at the memorial for the city's fallen citizens, as well as a parade of civilian organisations and schools.

Finally, in the margins of his visit to Elassona, the Deputy Minister of National Defence met with the city Mayor, Nikolaos Gatsas, at the City Hall.

The Deputy Minister of National Defence was accompanied by the Commanding General of the Hellenic First Army, Lieutenant General Konstantinos Floros, and the Chief of Hellenic Tactical Air Force, Lieutenant General (HAF) Themistoklis Bourolias.
