Following the doxology, the Minister of National Defence stated:
“Today, on the day of the big Orthodoxy celebration, that is the Presentation of Virgin Mary, we also celebrate and honor our Armed Forces, the forces that the Defender General led to victories through the centuries, which finally resulted in the dominance of our national rights, the protection of our sovereign rights, the safeguarding of our freedom and our national independence.
I wish from the bottom of my heart that our Armed Forces, the men and women, the Armed Forces members, are covered and protected by the Virgin’s Grace. The current geopolitical conditions and instabilities and the security challenges that mainly emerge in our wider region, impose the need for Greece to possess powerful and well-trained Armed Forces with a deterrent power. This is also our mission as Political Leaders of the Ministry of National Defence.
In any case, what stands is that Greece possesses this kind of Armed Forces, both regarding weapon systems and mostly personnel quality, so that it possesses its own force multiplier and discourages any scheming by anyone against our sovereign rights.
Happy Armed Forces Day and may the Virgin’s Grace guide and protect them”.
