The Deputy Minister of National Defence, Mr. Alkiviadis Stefanis, attended on Friday October 16th 2020 the Distinguished Visitors Day of the NATO Rapid Deployable Corps – Greece (NRDC-GR) Exercise “Gordian Knot 2020” that took place at “Prokopidis” Camp in Assiros – Thessaloniki.

The Exercise that was held from October 9th to October 16th 2020 constitutes the main training activity of NRDC-GR for this year.

At his address, the Deputy Minister of National Defence noted amongst others the following:

The NRDC-GR Headquarters is a capable and fully reorganized Headquarters of NATO Certified Rapid Response Forces, which is kept in a high state of preparedness, capable of dealing with any current and future challenge. At a time of international turmoil, during which specific factors and unique circumstances dictate our way of life, we need to remain united, so that we would deal with the emerging challenges and demonstrate our solidarity and our determination.

NRDC-GR’s strategic location between three continents (Europe – Africa – Asia), the fact that it marks the crossroads between the Balkans and the Middle East, the Black Sea and the Aegean, give NRDC-GR the part as a force multiplier. “Gordian Knot 2020” Exercise is a unique opportunity for the Headquarters to test the rules and procedures that have been established. The Ministry of National Defence fully recognizes the importance of NRDC-GR’s role and its contribution to the defence of the Alliance in compliance with the principles of Democracy, National Sovereignty and Common Security.

It is a unique pleasure for me to express once again my appreciation for the exceptional work that is carried out here”.
