The Deputy Minister of National Defence Maria Kollia-Tsaroucha, accompanied by the Deputy Chief of HNDGS Lieutenant General Konstantinos Floros, visited the Special Forces Training Centre at Megalo Pefko on Friday 14 December 2018.
The Deputy Minister observed the Special Forces Joint Exercise, with the participation of land, air and floating assets.
During the exercise, the Deputy Minister ascertained the high level of readiness and capabilities for the conduct of special operations by the three Services of the Armed Forces, while she stated that she was impressed by the excellent expertise and decisiveness with which any mission is executed by the Special Forces.
The Deputy Minister addressing the members of the Special Forces stated the following:
“Our Special Forces are the spearhead of the Armed Forces, with the excellent execution of the assigned missions, with courage, decisiveness and exceptional expertise, for anything, everywhere, anytime during the day, on land, air and sea. Greece is a peaceful country, which guards the values of Humanism and Democracy in the wider region of the Southeastern Europe.
However, if our national sovereignty and territorial integrity are challenged, we will not back down, not even for a millimetre. Our Special Forces make clear to friends, allies and opponents that they constitute a powerful presence and the response given by Greece, whenever called, on our land northern borders, at the Aegean Sea and the Eastern Mediterranean, wherever Hellenism stands. As the political leadership of the Armed Forces, we are working daily and we strive for the further improvement and upgrade of our Special Forces operational capabilities”.
