The Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos visited Armed Forces’ Units on Lemnos island, in view of the oncoming Christmas holidays, on Wednesday, 23 December 2020.
The Minister’s first stop was in 130th Combat Group where, accompanied by the Chief of HNDGS General Konstantinos Floros, he visited the Readiness Aircraft, he was briefed on operational matters and exchanged wishes with the crew and the technicians of the Aircraft. Afterwards, he visited Lemnos Naval Station where he exchanged Christmas wishes with the children of the Children’s Special Care Centre via teleconference and conversed with the personnel. Subsequently, Mr. Panagiotopoulos visited the gunboat NAVMACHOS of the Hellenic Navy which is on patrol in Northern Aegean Sea, where he exchanged wishes with the crew.
Afterwards, the Minister of National Defence visited the Bishop’s Mansion, where he met with His Eminence the Metropolitan bishop Mr. Ierotheos III and, after that, he visited the premises of the 88th Military Command, where he exchanged wishes with the military personnel and the Mayor of Lemnos Mr. Dimitris Marinakis.
Later on, Mr. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos visited the 290th Infantry Mechanized Battalion and the 8th Control and Report Post where he conversed with the military personnel and exchanged greetings.
At the premises of the 88th Military Command, Mr. Panagiotopoulos delivered the following statement:
“From the remote island of Lemnos, where I had the pleasure to visit all the units on the island, of the Land Forces, of the Hellenic Air Force and the Hellenic Navy, I would like to wish every Greek woman and man a Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year with health, mostly, and love, prosperity and Peace. Of course, I wish everybody the best of success in fulfilling their personal and collective objectives.
