On Friday, 9 August 2019, the Deputy Minister of National Defence Alkiviadis Stefanis visited Military Units and Services in the Attica region.
First, the Deputy Minister of National Defence, accompanied by the Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff, Vice Admiral Nikolaos Tsounis HN, visited the Children’s Special Care Centre, which operates in a properly configured section, in the Piraeus Naval Hospital facilities. He was briefed on the Centre’s operation, followed by a discussion with the scientific personnel, regarding the current challenges and the set of goals, being under an implementation procedure. During the visit, he observed a therapeutic treatment, regarding a case in a remote Aegean island, through teleconference. This potential was developed by the Centre’s personnel and it is provided, upon evaluation, in any Greek or foreign territory.
Being satisfied with the remarkable effort of the Centre’s specialised personnel, who are members of the Armed Forces Services and the Port Authority, the Deputy Minister praised the work performed during its thirteen years of continuous operation. He pointed out the given and unreserved support of the Ministry of National Defence political leadership, since this is an agency whose mission is the support of children and families.
Next, he went to the Pachi/Megara military airport and visited the 2nd Army Aviation Group.
The Deputy Minister discussed a number of issues with the Group’s Command, regarding the support and maintenance of the air assets, as well as the reinforcement of the operational capabilities of the Army Aviation Group’s Units.
Finally, on the occasion of his visit, he congratulated the Army Aviation Group’s personnel on their superb performance regarding their twofold work, that is, the daily multi-operational activities and their important contribution to society, by executing missions day and night, in the fields of air-evacuation and fire fighting with the use of air assets.
