P.KAMMENOS: «As I just announced at the Greek Parliament, this morning, at the Parliament an insult was addressed to both the constitution and the army, by Mr Barbarousis, an elected member of the Golden Dawn (“Chrysi Avgi”) parliamentary group.

Regarding the Armed Forces, no one has the right to question their democratic nature, including me, as their political leader, but also the military leadership, the officers, NCOs, soldiers and national guards; we will allow no one to do so.

All members of the Armed Forces serve the Constitution and the laws of the state, and take an oath to serve the democratic regime. The phantoms of the past, that adversely affected the country, are present no more.

The Alternate Minister of National Defence Mr. Kouvelis and I, delivered to the Assistant Public Prosecutor at the Supreme Court the Greek Parliament’s minutes and an abstract of the video, so that legal action will be launched. The Alternate Minister will explain everything to you in a better way».

F. KOUVELIS: «What happened at the Greek Parliament constitute penal offences, which insult Democracy, the Constitution and the constitutional democratic legality. We were obliged to bring this to Justice and for this reason we met with the Assistant Public Prosecutor at the Supreme Court Mr. Zaharis, to whom -as the Minister has told you- we presented a certified copy of the Parliament’s minutes, as well as the depiction of all that happened inside the Greek Parliament.

It concerns criminal acts, which entail arrest in the act as well. The protection of the democratic regime, the respect of the Constitution is everybody’s obligation; it is our obligation, as well. In the context of this obligation and this duty, we exercised before the Greek Justice our lawful right. No one has the right to insult the Armed Forces.

Moreover, no one has the right to threaten and insult the democratic regime of the country. We are certain that the competent Assistant Public Prosecutor at the Supreme Court will act as the law directs».
