The Deputy Minister of National Defence ALKIVIADIS STEFANIS, following an event for the prevention of child sexual abuse, co-organised on Wednesday 19 May 2021,
with the MP of A’ Region of Thessaloniki Ms. ELENA RAPTI, a series of speeches so as to further inform the personnel and the parents of children registered in the Armed Forces’
Child Care Stations in Attica.
At the online event, speeches were delivered by Ms ELENA RAPTI, coordinator of the Council of Europe “One in Five” campaign, on the prevention of child sexual abuse, and Ms SOFIA KOUSSIDOU, Head of the Sub-Department for Minors’ Protection of the Thessaloniki Police Department, who contributed to the event. The Deputy Chief/HNDGS Vice Admiral IOANNIS DRYMOUSSIS HN also attended the event.
As this is a critical social issue, and a high level of interest emerged from the previous series of speeches, more events, which should cover all the Armed Forces’ Child Care Stations in Greece, will be held in the context of the Armed Forces’ Personnel Welfare, according to the MOD’s intention.
Throughout the teleconference, the vital importance of information in the Armed Forces’ Child Care Stations, as well as in all child care facilities, as a means to eliminate child sexual abuse cases, was underlined.
The Deputy Minister of National Defence stressed the importance of an optimistic and pleasant everyday life for the children, which are our societies’ most crucial element, and the guarantee for a better future.
