The Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos chaired the Meeting of the EU Defence Ministers belonging to the European People’s Party (EPP), which was held yesterday,
Wednesday 1 September 2021, before the works of the Informal Meeting of EU Defence Ministers in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
The meeting was attended by the Ministers of Defence of presiding Slovenia Mr. Matej Tonin, Cyprus Mr. Charalambos Petridis, Germany Ms. Annegret Kramp – Karrenbauer, Austria Ms. Klaudia Tanner, the Netherlands Ms. Ank Bijleveld-Schouten, Croatia Mr. Mario Banožić, Romania Mr. Nicolae Ciucă, and Slovakia Mr. Jaroslav Naď.
Among the matters discussed was the situation in Afghanistan, matters pertaining to the Strategic Compass, as well as the perspectives on the cooperation between the European Union and other international organisations, as the United Nations and NATO.
