November 12, 2024

On 11 November 2024, the information system came online for the registration of expert opinions of the Armed Forces Supreme Medical Committees in the National Record of Disability, in the context of the cooperation between the Minister of Digital Governance Dimitris Papastergiou and the Deputy Minister of National Defence Giannis Kefalogiannis.

Those concerned will be able to issue digitally their disability card and add it easily and quickly to their digital wallet, Gov.gr Wallet.

Until recently, the Armed Forces Supreme Medical Committees issued the disability decisions to the beneficiary citizens in handwritten form. Now, every new disability expert opinion will be registered digitally, whereas the digitisation of older valid expert opinions will start immediately by the committees of the Armed Forces, aiming at their immediate completion.

Specifically, the decisions of the Supreme Medical Committees will be directly and digitally available through the National Portal of Disability. For the decisions in force of the beneficiaries (within a 5 years period and for life) issued before 11 November 2024, personnel has been detached to the committees to digitise them within a four month period.

The information system was implemented by the General Secretariat of Information Systems and Digital Governance of the Ministry of Digital Governance under the Secretary General Dimosthenis Anagnostopoulos.

The Minister of Digital Governance, Dimitris Papastergiou, stated:

In cooperation with the Ministry of National Defence we proceeded to the digitisation of the expert opinions of the Armed Forces Supreme Medical Committees in the National Record of Disability, proving our respect for the personnel of the Armed Forces. This also entails that the concerned citizens will be able to issue a digital disability card and add it to the Gov.gr Wallet. As a Ministry of Digital Governance we have in our core of planning the use of technology, to the benefit of all citizens without exception. With digital tools, we can upgrade every day life of the people with disability and ensure equal treatment by public services. The Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, has put on top of the government agenda the issues of accessibility and equal opportunities for all”.

The Deputy Minister of National Defence, Giannis Kefalogiannis, stated:

After many months and intensive cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Governance and the General Secretariat of Information Systems and Digital Governance, the expert opinions of the Armed Forces Supreme Medical Committees are digitised in the National Record of Disability. We improve the everyday life of people with disability and we prove with actions our commitment that the personnel of the Armed Forces constitute the main priority of the Ministry of National Defence.

We constantly upgrade the health services and resolve matters with respect and awareness of our duty towards our personnel”.
