On Friday 29 August 2025, the Minister of National Defence, Nikos Dendias, participated in the Informal Meeting of the Foreign Affairs-Defence Ministers of the European Union in Copenhagen, composed of Defence Ministers of the member-states.
The Defence Ministers discussed, among other things, about the situation in Ukraine, as well as the Defence Readiness of the European Union, in the context of the White Paper on European Defence – Readiness 2030. The EU’s missions and operations were also discussed, in the context of the Common Security and Defence Policy.
In the framework of the Informal Foreign Affairs Council of the EU, Mr Dendias met with the Defence Minister of the Republic of Cyprus, Vasilis Palmas, with whom he discussed the reinforcement of the defence cooperation of the two states in various sectors, including Innovation, as well as the current security developments in the wider region.
