The Ministry of National Defence, with an initiative by the Alternate Minister Dimitris Vitsas, with the help of the Hellenic Navy, organises the 2nd Cultural Seaway on a warship to islands of the Eastern Aegean, from Wednesday 6 September to Wednesday 13 September 2017.
The gunboat NIKIFOROS will travel to Samos, Fourni, Ikaria, Lipsi, Kalymnos, Chalki and Karpathos islands.
Actors will put on the theatrical play “Aggela Papazoglou” by Giorgis Papazoglou, with the voluntary participation of Anna Vagena, on every island with the cooperation of the various municipalities.
At the same time the Hellenic Navy Band will perform its setlist and local associations will perform traditional dances.
This year’s cultural seaway to the Aegean, through the “Aggela Papazoglou” play, which narrates the memories and words of a woman from Asia Minor, offers a historical glimpse of places connected to the refugees. At the same time the words of “Aggela Papazoglou” transmit a diachronic message of love for human, our Country and pure patriotism.
The whole initiative is conducted in the context of the Armed Forces social contribution and of the further strengthening of the bonds with the islands inhabitants.
