The Alternate Minister of National Defence Dimitris Vitsas, representing the Greek government, attended the celebrations for the Independence Day of the Republic of Georgia, which were held in the country’s capital, Tbilisi. He also participated in the 10th Defence and Security Conference which was held on May 24 and 25, 2016, in the Georgian capital. In the context of the conference, he had a working dinner with Georgia’s Defence Minister Tinatin Khadasheli in which the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Greece and Georgia, as well as the perspectives for their further reinforcement were confirmed. He also met with the 1st Deputy Defence Minister of the Republic of Armenia David Tonoyan and with the Deputy Defence Minister of Georgia Ana Dolidze and discussed Defence and Security issues of the wider region. The Alternate Minister visited the Greek Embassy in Tbilisi and met with the Ambassador Georgios Chatzimichelakis and the personnel of the embassy. He also visited the offices of the European Union Monitoring Mission and met with the Greek observers who serve there.
