October 15, 2014

The Alternate Minister of National Defence Fofi Gennimata and the Special Secretary of the Ministry of National Defence Antonis Economou met on Wednesday, October 15, with the representatives of the Greek Diaspora in Washington Andy Manatos, Nick Karambelas and John Sitilidis, in the context of their official visit to the US capital.

“Greece steadily paces its way out of the crisis. A coordinated effort takes place and the Diaspora plays an active role in it. We believe that soon there will be tangible results in the citizens’ everyday life” said the Alternate Minister of National Defence.

“We need the support from the Greek community here at two levels; the investment level and the exports level. What we need above all is to change Greece’s image abroad. It is a country that struggles, a working country with excellent scientists and businessmen”.

Ms Gennimata particularly referred to defence industry and the efforts made lately, and ensured the support from Diaspora representatives, as far as contacts with respective US companies are concerned.

The Alternate Minister of National Defence Fofi Gennimata also met with the Ambassador of Greece to Washington Christos Panagopoulos, the Military Attaché and Defence Attaché of the Greek Embassy Evangelos Papadopoulos, and she also visited the offices of the Greek military mission.
