Alternate Minister Dimitris Vitsas’ statement in Xanthi

January 29, 2017

The Alternate Minister of National Defence Dimitris Vitsas addressing an event organized by SYRIZA party in Xanthi on Sunday, January 29, 2017, stated the following, among other things:

On the occasion of my attendance, I wish to send a message to every direction beyond the Greek borders: The borders of Greece, whether they are land, sea or air borders, are and will remain unbreachable and we will not compromise them in any negotiation.

Our country’s national independence was not granted by anyone, but it was gained after battles and sacrifices of the Greek people. Treaties simply ratified the result of these battles.

Challenging the validity of treaties which define the current frontiers in our area, by those who express it, is not an indication of strength, but of weakness.

For Greece, its people, its history, the peaceful policy which it applies, the policy of friendship and cooperation with other countries and, above all, the policy of respect to the rules of International Law and the observation and respect of the main principles of human rights not only of Greek people, but of every human as well, are signs of its strength.
