On Tuesday, 2 April 2019, the Alternate Minister of National Defence Panos Rigas, accompanied by the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff Lieutenant General Georgios Kampas, visited the Special High School at Ilion, where maintenance-reconstruction works of the buildings’ infrastructures hosting the School are in process, through the contribution of the Ministry of National Defence and the Hellenic Army General Staff.
 

The works, executed by an Engineers’ group, are already in process, starting from the sanitary rooms, to be followed by two more phases, which will include wall-paintings of the School’s interior and exterior.

During the visit, the Alternate Minister of National Defence met with the Principal and the faculty of the School and talked with the students. He pointed out that his presence and that of the Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff is symbolic and essential, since it projects another dimension of the Hellenic Army’s social contribution. He added that the Hellenic Armed Forces contribute not only when emergencies arise, like natural disasters, but also when they are invited to contribute through their available personnel and assets, wherever there is need.
