The Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr. Ioannis Kefalogiannis and the Ministry of Health signed a Joint Ministerial Decision, regarding the assignment of five (5) enlisted doctors to Regional Clinics, in remote and distant regions. Specifically, the enlisted doctors are assigned to the Regional Clinics of Psara, Megisti, Tilos, Sikinos and Folegandros islands. The time period of the aforementioned enlisted doctors military service, in the above places, is credited as rural service period, whereas from the date of the duties’ assignment to the said position, they are entitled, besides the anticipated wages from the Ministry of National Defence, to a monthly salary for rural service doctors and the compensation for the effected days of duty, which the Ministry pays from the credits registered in its budget. The Deputy Minister of National Defence stated: “With a sense of duty towards our remote citizens, the Armed Forces contribute to the medical armouring of small islands, providing medical aid and a sense of trust and security for the highest good, health”.
