On Tuesday 30 March 2021 a teleconference was held for the implementation of commemorative events in honour of the ANZAC in Limnos island , in the context of the impeccable cooperation and coordination for the promotion of heritage tourism, a joint initiative by the Ministry of National Defence and the Ministry of Culture and Sports .
The teleconference was attended by the Minister of Culture and Sports Mrs. Lina Mendoni, the Deputy Minister of National Defence Alkiviadis Stefanis, the Metropolitan of Limnos and Agios Efstratios Mr. Ierotheos C’, Regional Governor of Northern Aegean Mr. Kostas Moutzouris, Vice-Regional Governor Mrs. Anastasia Antonelli, the Eparch of Limnos Mr. Aggelos Vlattas-Lambrinos and the Mayor of the island Mr. Dimitris Marinakis, the Secretary General of the General Secretariat of the Aegean and Island Policy Mr. Pavlos Michalakelis , representatives of HNDGS and HAGS, as well as members of the Ministry of Culture and Sports.
This historic and cultural initiative was proposed by the Ministry of Veterans Affairs and Defence Personnel of Australia to pay tribute to the Australians who helped their Allies with Army Corps during WWI.
