On Wednesday, 25 November 2020, the Minister of National Defence, Mr. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos, briefed the members of the Special Standing Committee on Armament Programs & Contracts of the Hellenic Parliament on the Subprograms submitted to them for an opinion.

The process also involved the Deputy Minister of National Defence, Mr. Alkiviadis Stefanis, the Chief of Hellenic National Defence General Staff, General Konstantinos Floros, the Chief of Hellenic Air Force General Staff, Lieutenant General (HAF) Georgios Blioumis, the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Charalampos Lalousis, the Chief of Hellenic Navy General Staff, Vice Admiral Stylianos Petrakis HN, and the General Director of the General Directorate for Defence Investments and Armaments, Lieutenant General (HAF) Theodoros Lagios (ret.).

The Minister of National Defence briefed the members of the Special Standing Committee on the upgrade of “Sperwer” UAV systems, the technical support of ΑΗ-64 “Apache” helicopters, the maintenance of “Penguin MK2” guided missiles, the follow-on support of the “Patriot” missile systems, the follow-on support of the “S-300” missile systems and recertification of 48Η missiles, as well as the conclusion of an FMS case with the United States for the follow-on support of
C-130 transport aircraft.

Furthermore, four matters within the responsibility of the Minister of National Defence were presented for an opinion: the activation of the Subprogram for the procurement of ΑΗ-64 “Apache” helicopter spare parts and the follow-on support – reconstruction – upgrade – modernisation of existing fast boats. Moreover, the procurement of gyrocompasses for warships and submarines was discussed and an award decision was issued concerning a tender for the procurement of life-limited parts and time-controlled components, as well as restraint general repair spares.
