An immediate solution to the building problem faced by the Officers’ Autonomous Building Society at Pikermi-Attica is forwarded by the Ministry of National Defence and the Ministry of Environment, Energy and Climate Change.

Following a common decision, by the Minister of National Defence Mr. Panos Panagiotopoulos and the Alternate Minister of Environment, Energy and Climate Change Mr. Stavros Kalafatis, a special work group is processing the relevant regulations, in collaboration with the co-pertinent Ministries and the agents involved.

The solution is provided in the context of the reform performed at territorial and town planning and it is based on real estate exchange as well as on the institution of the “Land Bank” that will soon be established. Such a system of arrangements will offer solutions to this particular problem of the Officers’ Autonomous Building Society, as well as to general issues that building societies and private town planning face. Given the fact that this particular issue is very complex, since the overall area of the urban reforestation zone at Pikermi – Rafina includes estate of many associations, numerous civilians and also various protection schemes, the Ministry of Environment, Energy and Climate Change examines the issue as a point of reference for the reform, in order to solve all lasting problems without affecting areas of mere environmental protection.

The aim is, via territorial and town-planning reform, to enhance the protection of protected areas, with respect to constitutional provisions and the citizens’ property rights.
