Soon after 10 a.m. on Monday December 29 2014, the first air transportation operation of Greek and foreign citizens on board the “Norman Atlantic” ferry, who were transported from Lecce and Bari in Italy to Elefsis Air Base with a C-130 transport aircraft of the Hellenic AF, was completed.
By order of the Minister of National Defence Nikos Dendias, the Chief of the HAFGS Lieutenant General (AF) Evangelos Tournas was at the 112 Combat Wing, in order to welcome the ship’s passengers.
The Air Base’s personnel was at readiness at the welcome areas for the passengers of the “Norman Atlantic”, so as to offer any assistance necessary, in cooperation with teams of the General Secretariat for Civil Protection who were also present at the welcome areas.
