On Thursday 17 June 2021, the Deputy Minister of National Defence Alkiviadis Stefanis participated in the 4th online event in the context of the “1 in 5” Campaign for the prevention of child abuse, thus concluding the first cycle of the said scheduled actions of the Hellenic Ministry of National Defence.
The event was watched this time by parents whose children attend the Armed Forces Nurseries in Thessaloniki, Larissa, Trikala and Veroia.
In his opening address the Deputy Minister stated amongst other things:
“Today we are concluding a series of actions which aimed to raise the awareness on of our most valuable weapon system, our personnel, on child abuse. We are doing this, and we are as good as our words, for the sake of the most important force multiplier of the Armed Forces, which is our personnel. Aspiring to the future of our country which is our children. We are extremely happy to have completed this cycle of actions. As of September, and as long as the health crisis is over, we will organize new events with the physical attendance of our service members, to be held at our Nurseries”.
Then followed a speech by the campaign coordinator and Thessaloniki A’ region Member of the Parliament Mrs. Elena Rapti, who presented audio-visual material based on European Council standards. Then the floor was given to Mrs. Eleana Giannakou, Police Major, Deputy Head of Department Minors’ Protection of the Thessaloniki Police Department.
The event was also attended by Deputy HNDGS/Chief Vice-Admiral Ioannis Drymousis.
