The Minister of National Defence Mr Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos concluded today, Holy Wednesday 28 April 2021, his visit to the Area of Responsibility of the 98 Higher National Guard Battalions Command, on Lesbos Island.
The Minister visited the HQ of the 98 Higher National Guard Battalions Command, the Lesbos Naval Base, the “ΝΙΚIFΟRΟS” gunboat, the 265 Mechanised National Guard Battalion and the “Provoskida” Surveillance Outpost where he was briefed on operational issues and exchanged wishes with officers, NCOs and soldiers in view of the Lord’s Resurrection and the Easter celebration. Furthermore, he met with the Metropolitan Bishop of Mytilene, Eressos and Plomari Iakovos and the Mayor of Mytilene Mr Stratis Kytelis while he visited the Holy Pilgrimage Church of Pammegistoi Taxiarches of Mantamados and the Holy Church of Saint Rafael.
Mr Panagiotopoulos made the following statement:
“From the Surveillance Outpost in Provoskida, here on the border island of Lesbos, with the “guards of the walls” who stand vigilant on the battlements, I would like to wish you all Happy Easter.
Always, after the Crucifixion comes the Resurrection.
