The Minister of National Defence Mr. Panos Panagiotopoulos, gave an order to the Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff Lieutenant General Konstantinos Gkinis to immediately start the building of a new monument for the Hero of the War of 1940 at the battles of the Albanian Front, Colonel Konstantinos Davakis.
The bust at the monument which was built at the cross-road of the provincial road Areopoli – Yerolimenas had been stolen on January 18th 2013 late at night and was not found, despite the efforts made by police authorities.
The construction of the bust of Colonel Konstantinos Davakis will be funded by the Hellenic Army General Staff.
