By decision of the the Governmental Council on Foreign Policy and National Defence (KYSEA), the Chief of HNGS Vice Admiral Evangelos Apostolakis HN is appointed Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff and promoted to Admiral.
The post of Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff is assumed by Vice Admiral George Giakoumakis HN, the Commander in Chief of the Hellenic Fleet.
The Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff until today, General Michail Kostarakos, is honourably discharged, bestowed the honorary title of Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff and imminently recalled to active duty so as to assume his duties as Chairman of the EU Military Cimmittee.
KYSEA’s decision will enter into force on September 15 2015.
