Following a decision by the Minister of National Defence Mr. Dimitris Avramopoulos, the 383 Squadron of Firefighting Aircraft will not close. It shall remain within its headquarters, the 113 Battle Wing at Thessaloniki.
The Squadron’s contribution to the firefighting task and the experience gained so far, relating to the confrontation of needs and the operational allotment of firefighting means, render the abidance of the Squadron in Thessaloniki compulsory.
The Ministry of National Defence continues the preliminary work for the optimum preparation of the state mechanism in favour of opportune and effective fire fighting.
