On Saturday, 10 June 2023, the Minister of National Defence Mr. Alkiviadis Stefanis visited Distomo, where memorial events took place for the Anniversary of the Massacre by the German Nazi occupation troops, on 10 June 1944.
The Minister of National Defence attended the Doxology in Aghios Nikolaos Church, as well as the memorial service for the slaughtered patriots, and laid a wreath.
In a statement, Mr. Stefanis points out:
“Today is not a day of a simple memorial event. It is a day that sends a clear message to those who promote fear and revisionism. In the flow of Greek history, the thirst for freedom was, is and remains the most powerful weapon against any tyranny and scheming”.
