On Sunday, 11 June 2023, the Minister of National Defence Mr. Alkiviadis Stefanis attended the memorial events in honour of the Macedonian warriors Captain Tellos Agras and Antonis Migas, at Karydia of Edessa Municipality.

The Minister of National Defence had a meeting with the Mayor of Edessa Mr. Ioannis Mouratoglou. Next, he went to Karydia Local Community and attended the memorial service, which was officiated by the Reverend Metropolitan of Edessa, Pella and Almopia Ioil and laid a wreath at the spot where the two Macedonian warriors lost their life, for God and Country, on 7 June 1907.

In the context of his visit, Mr. Stefanis had the opportunity to exchange views with the local agents and agencies’ representatives. He made a commitment that, inter alia, the Ministry of National Defence will contribute to the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle in Edessa, he pointed out that the possibility of granting unused military land will be examined to the benefit of the local community and stressed that the Agra Museum in Karydia Local Community will be supported with equipment.

Upon conclusion of his visit, the Minister of National Defence stated:

“We bow with respect before the memory of the Nation’s Warriors and our Faith. They set an example for us and the next generations, because they are symbols of patriotism, devotion to duty and also true friendship. Immortal”.
