On Thursday 22 June 2023, the Minister of National Defence, Mr. Alkiviadis Stefanis, attended the signing of the contract regarding the transfer, through donation, of the new General Support Ship “PERSEAS”, between the Chief/HNGS Vice Admiral Ioannis Drymoussis HN and the President of “Aikaterini Laskaridi” Foundation and honorary Rear Admiral Mr. Panagiotis Laskaridis.
The ceremony was also attended by the Chief/HNDGS General Konstantinos Floros.
The ship will sail to Salamis Naval Station, so as to begin the delivery procedures to the Navy, and to incorporate it to the Fleet, through an official ceremony of its delivery and naming.
In a post at the social media, the Minister of National Defence outlines: “The operational capabilities of the Navy are expected to be supported with greater efficiency, thanks to that gentle donation of the fourth in a row General Support Ship by Mr. Panagiotis Laskaridis. Due to its technological innovations, this ship will constitute a valuable asset that will support the Armed Forces, in a period of increased needs”.
