The Minister of National Defence Dimitris Avramopoulos, made the following statement, regarding the sustainability of the Armed Forces Share Funds:

“The government will safeguard the effectiveness of the Armed Forces and the decisions to be implemented are a result of intense and thorough consideration, so that military personnel, who perform the supreme duty to their country under adverse circumstances, will be protected.

The decisions taken by the Ministry of National Defence and by the Ministry of Labour, which are based on the self-evident principle of sustainability of the funds, of their autonomous management and their supervision by the Ministry of National Defence, are in this context.

As far as the sustainability of the funds is concerned, an effectiveness clause has been allowed, so that potential adaptations will be performed gradually and in the long run, in order to respond to the self-evident principle of consecutiveness and solidarity among generations”.
