On Monday, 28 January 2019, the Minister of National Defence Evangelos Apostolakis attended an event of the non-profit organization Axion Hellas, conducted at the Armed Forces Officers Club, in Athens.
The Minister of National Defence pointed out, among others:
● The significant social work conducted by Axion Hellas, indicating voluntary action as a reference point.
● The organization’s important contribution to the Armed Forces, with the characteristic example of its support, with regard to the renovation of the army outpost at the remote island of Psara.
● The ever-lasting contribution of famous, as well as unknown Greek citizens, with regard to the reinforcement and the support of the Armed Forces.
● The obvious geopolitical and geostrategic importance of Greece’s remote regions and islands.
● The Armed Forces’ contribution to projecting Greece as a stability pillar and a security guarantor in the wider area of the Eastern Mediterranean and the Balkans.
● The need of building cohesive international defence cooperations in the region of national interest, with a view to facing security challenges and threats in the best possible manner.
