The Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos met today, Friday 5 August 2022, with the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) General Christopher Cavoli, in the context of
his visit to Athens. The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Hardalias and the Chief/HNDGS General Konstantinos Floros.

At their meeting, the Minister referred to the challenges faced by the Alliance, as well as to our country’s contribution to the task to be fulfilled by SACEUR.
The developments in the Eastern Mediterranean were also discussed, and it was underlined that it is vital to avoid actions that affect the Alliance’s coherence and fail promoting the spirit of collective security. General Cavoli outlined Greece’s crucial contribution and strategic role, being a pillar of security and stability in the broader region.
