The official visit of the Minister of National Defence Nikos Dendias to the United Arab Emirates was completed.
The Minister of National Defence met, on Wednesday 6 September 2023 in Abu Dhabi, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed al Nahyan.
Mr. Dendias visited, yesterday, the Diplomatic Academy of the UAE where he met with the Director General Nickolay Mladenov and the Deputy Director Dr. Mohammed AL Dhaheri.
On Thursday 7 September 2023, the Greek Minister laid a wreath to the Monument of Heroes in Abu Dhabi and, afterwards, he met with his counterpart, Minister of State for Defence Affairs of the UAE, Mohammed Ahmed Al Bawardi.
During their talks, they confirmed the strong friendship and the strategic defence relation of the two countries, which is based on the Greece-UAE Joint Declaration of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, as well as their common will to deepen this bilateral defence cooperation.
They also discussed the security situation in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Gulf region, as well as the cooperation for the creation of a security and stability environment, based on the International Law and the principle of good neighbourliness.
They also underscored the importance of promoting a closer cooperation in the field of defence industry. It is a priority to create an ecosystem in the defence field, through which synergies will be developed between the Ministries of Defence, the Armed Forces, the defence industry and the academic-research institutes of the two countries, with particular emphasis on innovation, artificial intelligence and on the exchange of expertise on leading-edge technologies.
