The Minister of National Defence, Nikos Dendias, participated today,
Tuesday 19 September 2023, in the Ukraine Defence Contact Group,
organised on the initiative of the US Secretary of Defense Mr. Lloyd
Austin, at the Ramstein Air Base in Germany.
The Minister of National Defence confirmed Greece’s firm and consistent
position to support Ukraine and its territorial integrity, highlighting
that the Russian invasion is in flagrant violation of International Law,
and puts Europe’s security and stability at risk.
Mr. Dendias also referred to our country’s humanitarian and defence
assistance to Ukraine, and underlined that Greece shall stay by the
Ukrainian people’s side, offering all help possible, for as long as
required.
On the margins of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group, Mr. Dendias met
with the US Secretary of Defense Mr. Lloyd Austin, with whom he
discussed on further deepening the Strategic Defence Relation between
Greece and the US.
Afterwards, the Minister of National Defence met with the Hellenic Air
Force personnel serving at ΝΑΤΟ Allied Air Command – AIRCOM,
headquartered in Ramstein Air Base.
