The Minister of National Defence Nikos Dendias, representing the Prime Minister, was received in Doha by the Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, in Lusail Palace, where he conveyed, on behalf of the Hellenic Government, sincere condolences on the great loss of H.E. Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
Mr. Dendias highlighted that he had the honour to know the deceased personally, and that he was a leader who sealed with his vision and work the modern history of Qatar.
In the context of his visit to Doha, Mr. Dendias also met with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs in Qatar, Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.
In the course of the meeting, the current developments in the region, and their consequences on security and peace, were discussed. In addition, the significant progress made in strengthening bilateral defence relations, since the previous meeting between the two Ministers in April, was also assessed.
