The Minister of National Defence Nikos Dendias, accompanied by the Deputy Minister of National Defence Thanassis Davakis, the Chief/HNDGS General Dimitrios Choupis, and the Chief/HNGS Vice Admiral Dimitrios – Eleftherios Kataras HN, will travel to Lorient – France tomorrow, Thursday 18 December 2025, to attend the ceremony for the naming and the raising of the Greek flag on the first frigate FDI HN (“Belh@rra”) F – 601 “KIMON”.
In the context of his visit, the Minister of National Defence will meet in Lorient with his French counterpart Catherine Vautrin. Matters of bilateral defence cooperation, regional and European security, as well as the prospect of further deepening the strategic relations between the two countries, will be discussed at their meeting.
Specific focus will be placed on the implementation of existing agreements, cooperation in the field of defence industry, and coordination of both sides facing the modern security challenges.
