Defence Minister Nikolaos Chardalias visits Formations, Units, Services and Surveillance Outposts of the Armed Forces in Epirus, Diapontia Islands, Aktion, Kalamata, Crete and Gavdos

The Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Chardalias will be visiting bases of Formations, Services, Units and Surveillance Outposts of the Armed Forces in the Regions of Epirus, Diapontian Islands, Aktion, Kalamata, Crete and Gavdos, from Sunday, 16 January to Thursday to Tuesday, 18 January 2022, in order to meet the personnel and to be informed about their current activities,.

More specifically, during his three-day visit, Mr. Chardalias:

– will attend the funeral service in the memory of Infantry Colonel Konstantinos Kokkas, Greek combatant killed in action while fighting in Cyprus, which will be held on 16 January, at his birthplace, Peta village, Arta.

– will visit the Surveillance Outpost of “OTHONI” (Diapontian islands), the Surveillance Outpost “MOLYVDOSKEPASTO” (Konitsa), the 8th Motorised Brigade and the “Lt. Gen CHARALAMBOS KATSIMITROS” Camp in Ioannina, the FOB Support Unit in Aktion and the respective NATO Operational Base, the 120th Air Training Wing, in Kalamata, the Surveillance Outpost “GAVDOS”, Crete Naval Base, the NATO Maritime Interdiction Operational Training Centre, the 5th Infantry Brigade “V DIVISION CRETANS”, in Chania, and the 133th Combat Group, in Kasteli Irakleion.

He will also visit the Naval Hospital of Crete and the Vaccination Centre of Chania which is operating within the premises of the Naval Hospital with the participation of personnel, assets and materiel of the Armed Forces.
