Defence Minister Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos briefed the Hellenic Parliament’s Standing Committee on National Defence and Foreign Affairs on the new structure of the Armed Forces

The Minister of National Defence Mr. NIKOLAOS PANAGIOTOPOULOS briefed today, Wednesday 23 September 2020, the members of the Hellenic Parliament’s Standing Committee on National Defence and Foreign Affairs, at a special meeting which took place behind closed doors at the “Ioannis Kapodistrias” Hall.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr. ALKIVIADIS STEFANIS, the Chief HNDGS General KONSTANTINOS FLOROS, the Chief HAFGS Lieutenant General GEORGIOS BLIOUMIS, the Chief HAGS Lieutenant General CHARALAMBOS LALOUSSIS, the Chief HNGS Vice Admiral STYLIANOS PETRAKIS HN, and the MOD General Secretary Mr. ANTONIOS OIKONOMOU.

The Chief HNDGS General Konstantinos Floros commented on the new structure of the Armed Forces and referred to the essence of this reorganising.

The meeting of the Hellenic Parliament’s Standing Committee on National Defence and Foreign Affairs, which lasted
two hours and fifteen minutes, was chaired by Mr. KONSTANTINOS GKIOULEKAS.

The Parliamentary Committee will convene again at 18:00 at the Hellenic Parliament Assembly Hall, on the agenda:
“Opinions by the members of the Committee, as specified in the Parliament’s Regulation, combined with
art. 72 of Law 3883/2010, regarding the new Structure of the Armed Forces”.
