The Minister of National Defence Mr.Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos received a delegation of trade unions that represent the employees in “Elefsis Shipyards” as well as representatives of opposition parties and of the General Confederation of Greek Workers GSEE, in his office, on Tuesday 18 January 2022.

Mr. Panagiotopoulos stressed that the Ministry of National Defence will have formulated its opinion and remarks about the rationalization plan of the Shipyards by 15 February, with a view to assenting to it definitely and to forward the relevant procedure. He also reiterated that he supports the provision of a six-month prolongation regarding the completion of the work which has been assigned to “Elefsis Shipyards”. In the end, he stressed that the Government and the Ministry of National Defence have already expressed their wish to build new units of the Hellenic Navy in Greece.
