The Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos met today, Holy Wednesday 20 April 2022, at the Ministry of National Defence, with a cross-party delegation of the United States House of Representatives visiting Greece, chaired by the Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee Mr. Frank Pallone. The delegation was accompanied by the US Ambassador
Mr. Geoffrey Pyatt.

The meeting, held in the “Ioannis Kapodistrias” Hall, was also attended by the Chief/HNDGS General Konstantinos Floros, the Chief/HAGS Lieutenant General Charalambos Laloussis, the Chief/HAFGS Lieutenant General Themistoklis Bourolias, and the Deputy Chief/HNGS Rear Admiral Georgios Kampourakis HN.

At the meeting, a briefing was made on the recent developments in the strategic Greece-US defence partnership, and the perspective for its further, mutually beneficial, deepening and widening.

The developments in Ukraine were also discussed, and the need to fully respect the country’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, and to provide solidarity and support for their defence.

Regarding the security situation in the East Mediterranean, the importance to prevent destabilising, fraudulent, and revisionist actions, which conflict International Law and the principles of good neighbourly relations.
