The Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos met in Brussels yesterday, on the margins of the NATO Defence Ministers Meeting, with NATO Secretary General Mr. Jens Stoltenberg.
At their meeting, international and regional developments were discussed, with a focus on Ukraine and the Eastern Mediterranean.
The Minister of National Defence informed Mr. Stoltenberg on the latest developments regarding the Turkish Government’s aggressive rhetoric. He underlined that they undermine the Alliance’s unity and coherence, and also security and stability in the region, at a critical juncture.
Mr. Panagiotopoulos pointed out that Greece’s firm position is understanding and dialogue, on the basis of International Law and good neighbourly relations, yet noting at the same time that Greece will not accept any challenges of its sovereignty.
